More cover talk

Here are two possible jacket design layouts for the book that I've just finished, written by Sarah Wilson. (You can see an interior piece of artwork in a previous post.) The font is not final, it's more just a placeholder until I do the painting and the book is designed. Then we'll decide whether or not to use the oval or not.

I like the one with the oval--it feels less wild (unless wild, with the splashing, is what is wanted). Something about your font/cover is reminding me of Shel Silverstein. Maybe it's just the current black/white thing.

I kind of like the one without the oval. I agree with Amanda - it feels more crazy, but I like the excitement and fullness of it, and that you can really see what's going on in the picture. Can't wait to see it with color!

I like the one without the oval. Feels less confined.

Two totally different looks with such a simple change here. Personally, I like the one with the oval best. If you want to have a more wild look, you could always have some of the splashing extend out of the oval. But I agree with the full bleed option giving a much more crazy, wild feel.
