Space Boy: The Window Display

Here is our intrepid hero, Nicholas, in the window display at The Children's Book Shop in Brookline, Mass. I spent last night/this morning making a foamcore version of the little guy, and he's just about actual toddler size. I also made a giant rocket ship to accompany him.

I went up to the book shop late this morning to put together the display, see all the new books that have just come out, and generally just hang around and talk about children's books with Terri, Anna, and Lindsay.

Here's what I came home with this time: The Wall by Peter Sis, Cowboy & Octopus by Jon Scieszka and Lane Smith, The Last Apprentice: Night of the Soul Stealer by Joseph Delaney, The Pig Scrolls by Paul Shipton, The Last Polar Bears by Harry Horse, and a little set of three books by Marion Dane Bauer, illustrated by John Wallace (one of my favorite illustrators) in Aladdin's Ready-to-Read/Wonders of America series, entitled The Grand Canyon, Niagara Falls, and The Rocky Mountains.

Here's another picture of Nicholas in the bookshop window:

And yet another, with his rocket!

And here's one more, taken at home in front of the fireplace, before loading up the car!
